700 horsepower means nothing if you can't keep it pointed straight. Vin D has been making serious power on the dyno but driving this second gen Cummins on the street was another story. Loose steering, wandering all over the road, two hands white knuckling it over every pothole. A truck this capable deserves a front end to match, so we went all in on a full heavy duty steering upgrade.
We bolted on a complete Synergy steering kit built specifically for the second gen Dodge Ram, along with a third gen style track bar conversion, a Fox steering stabilizer, and a Red Head steering box. The Synergy setup uses a custom uniball that only articulates in one direction which keeps the drag link from twisting and moving your tires around every time you hit a bump. Night and day difference compared to the factory setup.
After the install we took Vin D down the worst road in Cedar City and this 24 valve Cummins tracked straight, stayed planted, and felt completely different. What used to feel dangerous and irresponsible to drive now feels like a legit fun diesel street truck.
We are still chasing 1000 horsepower on this second gen build and compounds are next on the list. Make sure you are subscribed so you don't miss what comes next.
