Vin D is going RACING, but first we need more power. 🏁
We've been building, hot rodding, and testing Windy (our 9812 12-valve) for a while now and it's finally time to take her to the track. But before we load up for the NHRDA Desert Diesel Nationals at Wild Horse Pass in Chandler, Arizona, we needed to dial in a brand new 12.5mm injection pump on the dyno.
We start at 636hp, bump fuel, chase the waste gate, and land right where we need to be with a spool-up curve that's going to make a huge difference in the Blue Collar Class. No pre-staging boost allowed in this class, so spool speed is everything. We also walk through why we dropped timing to 20 degrees and what that trade-off means for a heads-up race from idle.
Then we pull back the curtain on Scrat, our UCC build that's been getting a serious makeover. New cage work, electric water pump, electric power steering, a new front axle, dual CP3 case, coilovers, and a legit race seat. We're down to the wire but it's coming together.
And of course... Uncle Rico makes an appearance. The 6.7 block under a 12-valve head, still somehow alive, still somehow fast.
