VGT 63 Billet Actuator Turbo Upgrade for 6.7 Cummins

We strapped a 6.7 Cummins to 34,000 pounds of truck and trailer weight, pulled Vail and Eisenhower Pass, and this new 63 by 70 turbo held EGTs in check without breaking a sweat. In this Parts Bin video from Power Driven Diesel, Josh joins us in the shop to finally unveil a turbo we have been hinting at for months. Cummins owners have been asking when it would be available, and it is finally here. This turbo was built to solve the actuator failures that plague stock units. After seeing the same issues in testing that so many truck owners experience, we decided to partner with City Diesel and include a billet actuator that reacts faster, holds stronger, and gives you confidence on the road and under load. Josh has put serious miles on this setup, including hauling a 53 foot enclosed race trailer across I 70 at a combined weight of 34,000 pounds. Even with that kind of load the truck stayed responsive, kept EGTs in check, and picked up noticeable power. Unloaded, the truck drives even better, with quick spool and extra punch. One of the biggest improvements is in exhaust braking, where the billet actuator reacts instantly instead of lagging like the factory unit. On steep grades, that quick response makes a big difference. The 63 millimeter compressor paired with a 70 by 64 turbine was chosen for drivability at elevation. Most aftermarket turbos run a 67 turbine, but we wanted more trim and quicker response. Testing showed it spools faster, controls EGTs better, and still makes strong power. As a single turbo it cleared 500 horsepower, and in a compound setup with an S480 it made just over 1,100 horsepower while keeping drive to boost ratios tight. That balance between towing ability and big power is what sets this unit apart. This turbo also makes installs simple. It ships brand new with no core charge and includes details like the speed shaft O ring that often causes problems if overlooked. That means you can bolt it up in your own garage without chasing down missing parts. There are plenty of 63 millimeter options on the market, but none offer this combination of reliability, responsiveness, and ready to install completeness. If you want a turbo that has been tested under real world loads and not just on paper, this is the one.
