SmokeStang Pulled a Cement Truck at 250° in the Desert

A few years back, Westen Champlin pulled a cement truck through the California desert with the SmokeStang , and it turned into one of the wildest stories ever. Right out of the trailer, the car fired backward thanks to a half-dead battery and stripped a bunch of teeth off the flywheel. Meanwhile, the film crew’s in a panic — every hour not filming was costing them $20,000 to $30,000. So what did Westen do? Found a good spot on the flywheel, got it to fire, and just never shut it off. It idled all day, running burnout after burnout under the blazing sun. At one point they had to do a burnout under an awning — multiple takes — and the temp gauge just kept rising. By the time it was time to pull the cement truck (twice), the SmokeStang was at 250 degrees. He walked up, dumped water on the valve cover — and it instantly boiled off. But the car never quit. It ran the whole day, pulled the truck, and got every shot done. Diesel abuse? Absolutely. But it took it like a champ. 🔥 This is just one of the insane stories from today’s episode with Westen Champlin — available now on all major podcast platforms. Go give it a listen.
